Abstract
L'analyse conjointe des disparités interrégionales et interpersonnelles du revenu pose la nécessité de reformuler le problème du développement régional inégal en termes des rapports entre classes sociales, régions et accumulation du capital. L'auteur propose une problématique à deux volets: une redéfinition de la région est d'abord tentée à l'aide des concepts de mode de production et de formation sociale; et les rapports entre les ondes longues du procès d'accumulation et le développement régional inégal sont ensuite esquissés. La problématique est illustrée à l'aide de deux exemples nord-américains: le cas de la montée spectaculaire du Sud aux États-Unis depuis 30 ans, et le maintien de l'inégalité du développement entre le Québec et l'Ontario au Canada.
