There is a great need of data exchange between XML and RDB (relational database) in many Web services and applications, which is implemented by XSLT currently, using a flat XML document as an intermediary and describing the transformation by XSLT. This process is indirect and low-performance, especially dealing with complex structure or massive data. In this paper, we propose a new approach with a set of mapping rules and a direct process to make the exchange simpler and more effective
