Resume L’ancestim, commercialise par la societe Amgen sous le nom de STEMGEN®, est un homologue du facteur de croissance des cellules souches humain endogene issu de la technologie de l’ADN recombinant. Commercialise au Canada, en Australie et en Nouvelle-Zelande depuis octobre 1999, il est indique en association avec le G-CSF afin d’augmenter le nombre de cellules souches du sang peripherique devant servir au cours de la greffe. Il est inscrit depuis janvier 2000 a la liste de la RAMQ mais il doit etre administre par du personnel medical competent ou l’equipement de reanimation et/ou les medicaments requis sont disponibles. Abstract Ancestim, marketed by Amgen under the name of STEMGEN®, is an homologue of human endogenous stem cell growth factor produced by the recombinant DNA technology. Ancestim is marketed in Canada, Australia and New Zealand since October 1999 and is appropriate in combination with G-CSF to increase the number of peripheral blood stem cells that will be used during transplant. Ancestim is on the formulary of the RAMQ (Regie de l’assurance-maladie du Quebec) since January 2000 but it has to be administered by qualified medical staff where required life support equipment and/or medications are available.
