Dans le cadre du projet de reforme de son systeme de formation en archivistique, l'universite du Pays de Galles d'Aberystwyth a procede a une enquete sur les approches et programmes educatifs appliques dans d'autres pays. Apres avoir evoque les facteurs affectant l'enseignement superieur en general, l'A. examine en detail les programmes offerts par chaque pays : Pays-Bas, Italie, Allemagne, France, Canada, Etats-Unis et Australie. L'enquete a revele que de nombreux autres pays ne tentaient pas de fournir de formation professionnelle de base en une seule annee universitaire. Bien qu'aucun des systemes de formation etudies ne soit directement applicable au cas du Royaume-Uni, l'exercice s'est avere tres instructif.
