Abstract
La figure textuelle utopienne prétend qu'un « modèle spatial » — dessin planaire selon l'esprit de la géométrie euclidienne et de la perspective artificielle de la Renaissance — fait partie intégrante et nécessaire d'une « société modèle » délestée, entre autres, de la contrainte du droit de propriété privée. La géographie régionale de Blanchard au Québec, d'ascendance vidalienne, applique à la connaissance du rapport homme-nature la notion déterministe de « genre de vie », qui fait abstraction de la propriété nominative contradictoire, réduisant l'institution de la propriété en général à l'usage des moyens anonymes de production. Cette lecture utopienne avait besoin d'un « modèle spatial », auquel Blanchard a destiné la partie géomorphologique de son oeuvre. La description des « pénéplaines » cycliques évoque les paramètres du système du rang, ce fameux « cadastre » largué sur l'ensemble du couloir laurentien dès le XVIIe siècle.
