Abstract
Un inventaire des monts sous-marins dans les régions cartographiées avec le plus de détails (SE du Pacifique et Sud de l'Océan Indien) ou très bien étudiées (ENE du Pacifique) soit en tout 54 000 km 2 , connus grâce à 590 000 km de trajet de sondages, conduit par extrapolation, pour l'ensemble des mers du Globe, à environ 20 000 monts de plus de 500 m de hauteur relative, dont 4000 à 7000 de plus de 1000 m, dont 800 à 1200 de plus de 2000 m. Ainsi se confirme que le grand domaine du volcanisme mondial, c'est le fond des Océans.
