Abstract
Aboriginal Peoples are facing a number of serious and complex environmen-tal issues within their territories. Post-secondary environmental education programs in Canada have been slow to adopt curriculum and develop pro-grams to meet the needs of Aboriginal students and their communities. This manuscript outlines necessary components of successful Indigenous envi-ronmental education programs at the post-secondary level based on the author’s participation in three such programs as a program developer/direc-tor, curriculum developer and instructor, the current literature, and, in addi-tion, her experiences as an Anishinaabe student studying Western science.
