Abstract
Par le truchement d'analyses quantitatives et cartographiques, l'article étudie les rapports entre la répartition spatiale de la morbidité hospitalière dans l'île de Montréal et certaines variables géographiques, démographiques et socio-économiques. Dans la majorité des cas, un indice socio-économique émerge comme principal facteur explicatif. Pour ce qui est de la localisation des troubles mentaux toutefois, la densité de population et l'accessibilité au réseau hospitalier paraissent être des variables importantes. Par ailleurs, un facteur de mobilité géographique peut expliquer, dans une certaine mesure, l'aggravation des complications reliées à la grossesse et à l'accouchement.
