This paper focuses on the contribution of an extended IDEF0 (called O/sup 2/IDEF0 for object-oriented IDEF0) based functional representation of an automated manufacturing system (AMS) for the build-up of other system views. It describes two translation procedures of an O/sup 2/IDEF0 representation to respectively an extended Petri net based behavioral view and to a digraph based failure model. Each procedure is illustrated via a case study.
