Abstract
This article is directed primarily to leisure service providers who offer services in communities, schools, and social service agencies. It describes the characteristics and prevalence of youth affected by attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), highlights assets and strengths of youth with ADHD, discusses the social impact of such a disorder on youth in recreational programs, and suggests some basic strategies for consideration to empower youth with ADHD in leisure services.
