Abstract

Recent expansion of applications of mobile communication presents new research opportunities and challenges in the design of new antennas and modeling their performance in realistic communication environments. The FDTD method provides an efficient tool for some aspects of design and for modeling of antenna performance in realistic situations. We model the performance of two types of representative antennas, namely: a dual-band strip-sleeve monopole on a laptop computer and a diversity patch antenna on a handset.
