Dans cet article, je procède à l’analyse des mécanismes par lesquels les femmes s’engagent dans une perspective égalitaire et citoyenne dans la société canadienne. À partir d’une étude de cas, j’explore comment la participation de femmes immigrantes à un groupe communautaire — Initiative : une ville pour toutes les femmes (IVTF) — constitue pour ces dernières un premier passage de frontière. Par la suite, j’examine comment ce premier passage contribue à une libération des femmes immigrantes qui concourt à franchir d’autres types d’obstacles.
