Abstract
Depuis quelques années, un certain nombre d’initiatives gouvernementales témoignent d’un intérêt croissant pour le rôle actuel et potentiel du Québec dans l’espace des relations interaméricaines. Dans le cadre de l’interrogation sur l’« américanité » des Québécois, il s’avère nécessaire de déterminer leurs coordonnées culturelles vis-à-vis des autres collectivités du Nouveau Monde. Cet article porte sur les parallèles et les contrastes, sur le plan des valeurs collectives, entre la société québécoise contemporaine et les autres sociétés du continent. L’hypothèse est ici avancée que le Québec se situe culturellement entre l’Amérique du Nord – plus précisément l’Amérique de tradition anglo-saxonne – et l’Amérique latine.
