Technique for simultaneously multiplying the repetition rate of multiwavelength optical pulse trains

Abstract
In this letter, we propose and numerically demonstrate a technique for synchronized multiplication of the repetition rate in multiwavelength optical pulse trains launched over a single fiber. The technique only requires linear reflection of the original signal in a single structure of superimposed chirped in-fiber Bragg gratings, which are specifically designed to provide a suitable group delay dispersion within each wavelength channel. The proposed multiplication process does not affect the individual pulse characteristics (shape and temporal width),and is highly efficient in terms of energy. Our proposal results in very compact structures capable of processing simultaneously a large number of wavelength channels.
