chanson : Le motif de 'L'Algérie malgré tout' » Nouvelle Revue Synergies Canada, N°6 (2013) 1 Littérature, cinéma, photographie, chanson Le motif de « L'Algérie malgré tout » Une anecdote algérienne raconte que c'est pour avoir eux aussi, « comme les Américains, leur chanson pour l'Éthiopie », qu'une trentaine d'artistes algériens s'est réunie en 1999 à Paris afin de réaliser cet opus en hommage au pays qui souffre : « Algérie mon amour, l'Algérie pour toujours ».Davantage « We are the children » que « We are the world », la chanson remporte un grand succès sur les radios algériennes.« Ô ma chère Algérie, tu as enfanté des artistes/Pour accompagner tes joies comme tes peines » répète le chœur qui passe en boucle à la télévision, alors que les autorités tentent d'enrayer l'appel au boycott lancé par plusieurs candidats qui renonceront bientôt à se présenter aux élections présidentielles imminentes.Si elle n'est pas un grand moment musical, cette chanson en est un de communion populaire chargé d'affects (les recettes seront versées aux victimes du terrorisme), de bonnes intentions, de déculpabilisation, de dénonciation de la répression et de la corruption, de volonté de réconciliation fraternelle.Elle est pourtant de fait un aveu d'impuissance, puisqu'elle résulte d'une action menée par des artistes dans une conjoncture qu'ils n'ont fait que subir et durant laquelle la profession a payé un lourd tribut.Reste que, de façon peut-être naïve et dérisoire, elle accorde symboliquement aux musiciens une fonction civique et à la culture un rôle dans la société en dénonçant islamistes et militaires.
