La consommation de drogues récréatives telles que l’ecstasy renvoie à plusieurs fonctions sociales et peut s’inscrire dans une quête d’expériences érotiques amplifiées. Plusieurs études, majoritairement réalisées selon une perspective quantitative, ont ainsi permis de saisir l’influence de cette substance sur les différentes dimensions de la réponse sexuelle, qui se voit modulée de façons diverses. Peu de recherches sur cette problématique ont été effectuées au Québec. Notre recherche exploratoire vise à dégager, à partir d’une approche qualitative, les facettes de la réponse sexuelle et du vécu psychosexuel d’utilisateurs d’ecstasy. Vingt-sept hommes et femmes d’origine québécoise, interrogés via Internet, ont répondu à une question ouverte portant sur les usages de l’ecstasy et la sexualité. L’analyse des discours permet de mettre en évidence les dimensions de sociabilité de l’ecstasy et ses effets multiples et variables sur l’expérience sexuelle et ses fonctions désinhibitrices qui favorisent l’exploration de nouvelles pratiques sexuelles. Il serait important de mener d’autres études qui tiennent compte des niveaux de consommation de l’ecstasy et d’autres drogues sur les modulations de la réponse sexuelle et sur leurs effets à long terme sur la sexualité.
