Abstract
L’autrice discute des vertus supposées de la connaissance de soi et de l’estime de soi dans le domaine scolaire à partir d’une réflexion théorique empiriquement étayée par des travaux de psychologie sociale. Elle montre que les conceptions de soi des élèves, qui permettent d’appréhender leur connaissance de soi, sont principalement reliées à la réussite scolaire, contribuant ainsi au maintien d’une bonne estime de soi. La réflexion principale porte sur le rôle de l’organisation en mémoire de ces conceptions de soi et sur le coût des stratégies visant à les protéger lors de situations menaçantes.
