Abstract
The street youth phenomena is an international and historical reality. It concerns all social classes, girls as well as boys and also even appears in social contexts where strict rules are applied. The study conducted in Montreal made use of anthropological fieldwork techniques. This article focuses on the street youth coping strategies. These young people pattern their attitudes on the relationship they had within their own family. Violence, abandonment and escape are expressed through the type of supplying relations, discontinuous relations, make-believes and instability.
