Nonparametric two‐step regression estimation when regressors and error are dependent
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Abstract This paper considers estimation of the function g in the model Y t = g ( X t ) + ϵ t when E(ϵ t | X t ) ≠ 0 with nonzero probability. We assume the existence of an instrumental variable Z t that is independent of ϵ t , and of an innovation η t = X t — E ( X t | Z t ). We use a nonparametric regression of X t on Z t to obtain residuals η t , which in turn are used to obtain a consistent estimator of g . The estimator was first analyzed by Newey, Powell & Vella (1999) under the assumption that the observations are independent and identically distributed. Here we derive a sample mean‐squared‐error convergence result for independent identically distributed observations as well as a uniform‐convergence result under time‐series dependence.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
