Les usages linguistiques en milieu scolaire pluriethnique à Montréal: situation actuelle et déterminants institutionnels

Abstract
L'étude explore l'état des usages linguistiques entre élèves lors de situations informelles extérieures à la classe dans vingt écoles du primaire et du secondaire de l'île de Montréal, présentant des taux de densité non francophone variés et une composition ethnolinguistique de leur clientèle plus ou moins favorable au français. Les résultats montrent que le français domine, qu'on examine sa part relative par rapport à l'ensemble d'autres langues ou son rapport spécifique à l'anglais. Par une analyse de régression, les auteurs identifient également les facteurs influençant la force relative du français dans chacun des milieux. La composition ethnolinguistique de la clientèle explique à elle seule 0,891% de la variance, suivie de la densité non francophone, de l'ordre scolaire et de la diversité linguistique de la clientèle non francophone.
