Abstract

This paper presents a new type of computer interface to large population health‐care data repositories via the Internet. It does not require programming knowledge but is flexible enough to handle the ad‐hoc queries common in research settings. The interface allows for the automated creation of SAS programs by the end users using a GUI‐based questionnaire. The interface is the front end of a three‐tier client/server system for on‐line information retrieval for large health‐care data warehouses.
