Detection of narrowband signals in alpha-stable noise environments
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The detection of both known and narrowband signals in a mixture of Gaussian and impulsive noise is described. The impulsive noise is modeled as an alpha-stable process. Discrete-time processing is considered. A useful class of non-Gaussian narrowband noise models is developed for which the locally optimum receivers are determined. The robust detector, which consists of a matched filter with an envelope nonlinearity, shows substantial improvements in performance compared to linear detectors. The asymptotic relative efficiency (ARE) and the probability of error (Pe) are chosen as a basis for comparisons. The results obtained will be useful in the performance evaluation of digital communication links subject to Gaussian and impulsive noises.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
