Strukturell abstimmbare Nanocluster ermöglichen die systematische Analyse elektronischer, magnetischer und katalytischer Eigenschaften auf der Nanoskala. In ihrer Zuschrift auf S. 2173 ff. beschreiben P. C. Burns et al. die Selbstorganisation von Nanoclustern auf der Basis von Actinyl‐Ionen. Die mögliche Bildung solcher Cluster in radioaktiven Abfällen und Folgen für die Mobilität von Actinoiden in der Umwelt werden diskutiert. Das Titelbild zeigt eine Polyederdarstellung eines sphärischen Actinylperoxid‐Nanoclusters.
