Cette contribution présente les analyses croisées de quatre chercheurs en sciences humaines impliqués dans des démarches de modélisation d’accompagnement. Dans le cadre d’un projet de recherche (Institut Français de la Biodiversité) portant sur la transformation des paysages (embroussaillement, boisements spontanés) à la suite de l'abandon des pratiques agricoles et l’émergence de nouvelles attentes sociales sur la valeur environnementale de ces milieux, quatre systèmes multi-agents ont été construits sur chacune des réserves de biosphère françaises concernées. Cette approche s’inscrit dans les « sciences de la complexité » considérant que la gestion des ressources naturelles constitue des systèmes complexes en situation d’incertitude et propose de dépasser le clivage sciences de la nature/ sciences sociales. L’objectif étant de construire une démarche de recherche finalisée et participative. La réflexion porte sur la place des sciences sociales dans cette démarche, les rôles que les chercheurs ont joué dans les différents contextes et les difficultés rencontrées, elle se poursuit sur les rapports entre natures et sociétés.
