La litterature d'immigration occupe une place privilegiee dans le discours interculturel contemporain. Yehia Taha Hassanein a choisi deux titres pour en extraire les donnees sociologiques et les enjeux ideologiques : Saison de la migration vers le Nord du soudanais Tayeb Salih (1969), et L'Amour en exil de l'egyptien Bahaa Taher (1995). Ces deux textes representent une quete de valeurs transculturelles en depit du sentiment de rejet, des chocs civilisationnels, du malaise de se trouver entre deux mondes.
