Abstract

With completion of the genome sequencing projects for several species, the post genomic phase of bioresearch is poised to make major contributions to our understanding of normal development and human disease. This promise will, in part, rely on the development of new microimaging technologies such as ultrasound biomicroscopy to provide quantitative longitudinal assessment of morphology and functional development of normal and abnormal tissues. We report here on the preliminary evaluation of a new high frequency ultrasound imaging system specifically designed to perform this function in the most important model of human physiology and disease: the mouse.
