Le but de cette recherche est d'étudier comment une intervention de groupe axée sur le développement de l’empowerment favorise l'intégration des nouveaux étudiants au milieu universitaire. L'analyse des résultats montre que les participants à l'intervention du groupe connaissent une augmentation de leur niveau d'intégration, et plus spécifiquement sur six des neuf dimensions de la mesure globale d'intégration. Ces résultats sont d'autant plus signifiants que deux de ces dimensions - « l'anticipation de l'échec » et la « priorité aux études » - sont considérées par plusieurs auteurs comme centrales au regard du mécanisme de développement de l'intégration. Les résultats de notre recherche permettent aussi d'observer que l'empowerment entretient une relation positive avec l'intégration. Ainsi, lorsqu'on observe une amélioration sur le plan du développement de l’empowerment, on constate au même moment une amélioration sur le plan de l'intégration.
