Abstract
Stradella, roman de Philippe Beaussant (1999), pose l’épineuse question des rapports entre histoire et fiction puisqu’il traite d’un musicien italien du XVIIe siècle sur lequel on ne possède pratiquement aucun renseignement. Cet article tentera donc de faire la part de la vérité historique et de la fiction, puis reviendra, de manière théorique, sur le concept d’Histoire dont des réévaluations contemporaines ont fait ressortir l’aspect de narrativisation. Nous inspirant des travaux de Gérard Genette, nous dégagerons alors l’originalité du texte de Beaussant : son jeu autour des notions d’auteur, de narrateur et de personnage ainsi que son utilisation surprenante de tableaux d’époque. Nous situerons enfin Stradella par rapport au genre traditionnel du « roman historique ».
