FEC and priority for VBR video distribution over ATM
Bibliographic record
Abstract
This paper concerns the distribution of entertainment quality video by means of asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) over optical fibre to the home or curb using a variable bit rate (VBR) video coder with a modest degree of compression. The encoder generates data of two levels of value or priority with respect to the reconstruction process. The paper focuses on the final ATM link to the home and investigates the use of a cell-loss compensation scheme using forward error correcting (FEC) codes to reconstruct lost cells containing high value video data. As well as the use of priority with respect to cell-discard in the ATM multiplexer. Performance evaluation of the cell-loss compensation, multiplexing and priority schemes shows that the use of FEC is of limited value, with or without priority, but that priority alone can significantly improve performance with regard to quality and traffic handling capacity.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
