On connaît très peu les représentations qu’ont les intervenantes des services à domicile de la situation des aidantes familiales, et celles de l’aide et des soins qu’elles fournissent. On ne connaît pas non plus leurs pratiques à l’égard des aidantes et les logiques sous-jacentes à leurs comportements. L’analyse des problématisations des intervenantes fait ressortir qu’elles voient surtout le travail instrumental et clinique effectué par les aidantes, évacuant la dimension familiale ou conjugale du lien entre l’aidante et son parent, et elles s’attendent à ce que les aidantes assument un rôle d’aide-soignante. Elles considèrent majoritairement que les familles sont les premières responsables de l’aide et des soins, même professionnels. Les services publics ont alors un rôle d’appoint, les intervenantes devant surtout montrer aux aidantes comment prodiguer les aides et les soins, mobiliser les familles, les accompagner moralement et se substituer à elles lorsque le besoin se fait sentir.
