A very high speed CIC decimation filter core is proposed in this paper. Based on partial-polyphase decomposition techniques, the core can operate at much lower sampling rate while achieving the same performances as Hogenauer’s CIC filter. It can receive data sampled at frequency 2, 4, or 8 times higher than that of the most commercially available cores without multiplying by 2, 4, or 8 the resources needed for an FPGA implementation. It is completely parameterizable and flexible at design time. The core has advantages in high speed operation like direct RF sampling.
