L’objectif de cette contribution est de montrer comment les systèmes de pêche artisanale participent à la construction d’une sécurité alimentaire et plus largement s’inscrivent dans un développement durable des filières halieutiques. À partir de réflexions générales et d’expériences françaises, nous relativisons en premier lieu la place marginale de ce secteur artisan au sein du système halio-alimentaire mondialisé. Par la suite, nous insistons sur la politisation de celui-ci à l’échelle mondiale ainsi que sur quelques initiatives plus locales en termes de gestion et de valorisation des ressources, essentielle pour accroitre la participation de ces pêches aux enjeux alimentaires actuels.
