Abstract
Les Voyageurs malgré euxd’Élisabeth Vonarburg fait éclater les repères spatio-temporels selon la poétique de l’uchronie(l’histoire revisitée), sous-genre de la science-fiction (SF). Il s’agit de la présentation d’une histoire alternative de la Nord-Amérique. Les écarts entre l’univers du récit et le monde empirique se manifestent aux niveaux historique (acteurs et événements), politique (pouvoir établi et factions contestataires), démographique (situation physique et conditions socioéconomiques), géographique (à l’échelle urbaine et géologique), ainsi que scientifique et anthropologique (normalisation de dons paranormaux). La distanciation exploitée sert pourtant de rapprochement par analogie, et le récit se prête ainsi à une réévaluation des enjeux historiques et territoriaux du Québec, brouillant l’imaginaire et l’Histoire factuelle. Nous démontrons en quoi les parcours des personnages du roman constituent un métadiscours sur l’expérience de la littérature ; sa production et sa réception.
