Abstract
Cet article étudie les implications normatives des théories de la reconnaissance qui s’inspirent de la tripartition posée par Axel Honneth de l’amour, du respect et de l’estime. Considérant que les morales universalistes, et les théories de la justice qui leur sont associées, peuvent fournir les principes normatifs du respect dû à chaque personne, l’article se centre essentiellement sur les figures de l’amour et de l’estime. Il met en évidence qu’une généralisation des exigences d’universalité et d’égalité à ces deux figures méconnaîtrait ce qui les distingue du respect.
