Abstract
Le conseiller principal d’éducation, figure d’une division du travail éducatif dans les établissements scolaires du second degré, a la responsabilité du suivi du parcours scolaire des adolescents. En s’appuyant sur le concept de relation éducative et la théorie ducare, cet article présente la démarche et les résultats d’une étude qualitative sur le récit des activités d’entretien menées par les conseillers avec leurs élèves. Les résultats mettent en évidence l’importance d’une éthique relationnelle fondée sur le souci du bien-être de l’Autre, qui fait appel à des compétences d’accompagnement et invitent à mieux considérer lapraxisde ce professionnel pour comprendre comment aider l’élève à grandir. Sa responsabilité éducative s’exprime dans sa capacité à inscrire son action individuelle dans un cadre socialisant.
