Cet article présente quelques réflexions émergeant d’une recherche doctorale focalisée sur les enjeux de l’institutionnalisation de l’éducation relative à l’environnement dans la formation initiale à l’enseignement primaire. Le texte présente d’abord l’ensemble de la recherche ainsi que quelques positions et clarifications permettant de mieux apprécier les pistes suggérées pour institutionnaliser une éducation relative à l’environnement dans la trajectoire obligatoire de la formation initiale à l’enseignement primaire. Dans un premier temps, l’étude de la genèse et de l’histoire de dispositifs de formation fortement institutionnalisés permet d’envisager des voies pour mettre en place et institutionnaliser la formation. Elle invite à un travail collectif réunissant des professeurs en formation initiale à l’enseignement primaire. Dans un second temps, l’étude du fonctionnement des dispositifs permet d’envisager des voies pour concevoir et vivre la formation. Elle invite à dégager un espace-temps de formation à l’enseignement qui accordera une place à l’environnement parmi les fondements de l’éducation en plus de celle parmi les didactiques.
