Abstract
Quelle place Peirce accordait-il à l’esthétique dans son système philosophique? Quels liens trouve-t-on chez lui entre esthétique et séméiotique? En fouillant ces questions, l’auteur trouve une piste très riche et démontre comment les démarches de la réflexion esthétique et séméiotique ont été concurrentes chez le penseur américain. Plus spécifiquement il explique comment, en introduisant au fondement même de l’édifice sémiotique les retombées de l’expérience artistique sous le terme d’un état esthétique de l’esprit (vers 1903), Peirce enrichit de manière considérable sa séméiotique, lui conférant une puissance explicative qui étonne encore aujourd’hui, à mesure que nous le redécouvrons.
