Abstract

The objective of this present study was to compare the impact of participating in an aquatic activities program in infants’ motor development as well as the impact of program participation period in the infants’ motor development. Participated in the study 80 infants (age between 1 to 18 months) organized in two groups: aquatic activities program’ participants (GA) and a control group (GC) with participants from daycares; stratified by age and familiar income. To evaluate motor development the Alberta Infant Motor Scale was used. The results showed: a superior motor performance for GA and a moderate association between motor development and practice period in the aquatic program. The aquatic program as well as the practice’ period had positive influence in the participants’ motor development.
