Il y a quelques années encore, l’audit interne était une pratique marginale dans le secteur public belge, pratique qui s’est progressivement étendue à la suite des dernières réformes managériales. L’article dresse un bilan des activités d’audit interne dans le secteur public belge sous différents angles. On y présente quelques statistiques à ce sujet, les différents dispositifs institutionnels régulant l’audit interne à chaque niveau d’autorité publique en Belgique et les principaux facteurs favorisant son adoption et sa professionnalisation dans ce contexte, par l’entremise d’une sélection d’entretiens d’agents publics. Nous pensons que les pays dont les administrations publiques présentent des traits caractéristiques identiques à ceux des administrations belges partageraient des résultats similaires, en particulier ceux dont la politique des ressources humaines demeure relativement centralisée.
