A low-voltage current-mode instrumentation amplifier designed in a 0.18 /spl mu/m CMOS process for biomedical applications is presented. The low-voltage technology chosen presented several challenges. The basic design was modified to incorporate low-voltage current mirrors and native NFETs. A common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 143 dB after extraction was achieved, with a differential gain of 100 V/V. Several advanced layout geometries were used to ensure proper matching between key circuit elements. The design has been submitted for fabrication to CMC to allow validation and testing.
