Les écrivains juifs contemporains de langue française présentent une double spécificité : d’une part, et malgré le travail littéraire sur des thématiques souvent communes, ils ne sont regroupés dans aucun réseau (ni à fondement esthétique ni à fondement politique) ; d’autre part, il est impossible d’assigner à leurs textes un enracinement territorial unique et homogène. C’est d’ailleurs cette absence d’inscription à la fois dans les réseaux et dans le territoire qui permet d’expliquer partiellement qu’il n’existe pas de littérature juive française. Mais si les écrivains juifs de langue française ne sont inscrits ni dans des réseaux communs ni dans un territoire géographique précis, il n’en reste pas moins que la plupart d’entre eux ont collectivement investi ce territoire symbolique que constitue la mémoire.
