Abstract
Cette étude présente les résultats d’un examen comparatif des changements sociopolitiques qui ont lieu au Québec et au Nouveau-Brunswick entre 1960 et 1967. L’exercice est effectué dans le but avoué de vérifier l’idée répandue selon laquelle la Révolution tranquille est un phénomène purement québécois qui ne saurait trouver d’équivalents ailleurs. La comparaison permet d’affirmer sans ambages que le Nouveau-Brunswick connaît, durant cette période, des transformations d’une ampleur égale et d’une nature très similaire à celles qui ont lieu au Québec. Mais elle nous en apprend aussi très long sur les origines idéologiques et culturelles de la Révolution tranquille québécoise, et nous amène à sérieusement remettre en question l’importance du « néonationalisme » dans la genèse du phénomène.
