Cet article traite des impacts que l’insertion croissante des technologies numériques pourrait avoir sur les pratiques universitaires. Il identifie les phases d’intégration des TIC à cet ordre de formation. Il montre comment le recours aux technologies a provoqué une remise en question du rôle traditionnel du professeur. En analysant la nouvelle condition étudiante, trois pôles thématiques émergent : investissements technologiques et transfert de coûts, capacité de gestion de l’information, autonomie dans la démarche d’apprentissage et dans le cheminement de formation en général. Enfin, selon une approche plus globale, les auteurs s’interrogent sur l’opposition croissante entre la logique concurrentielle du marché du savoir et la logique communautariste de la recherche.
