Abstract
L’étude de la nationalité, de l’éducation et de la carrière des dirigeants de la maison mère du groupe canadien Alcan en 1940, 1970 et 2000 montre que ces derniers ont beaucoup évolué au fil des décennies. Il est même possible d’évoquer la succession de trois générations à la tête du groupe : la première, majoritairement américaine, reflète la filiation que le groupe conservait avec Alcoa ; la deuxième, de prédominance anglo-canadienne, avait les yeux fixés sur la multinationalisation du groupe ; enfin, la dernière, plus composite, mais où la présence franco-québécoise est à signaler, est composée d’individus ayant fait carrière au sein du groupe et d’autres qui sont tout simplement de passage.
