Abstract
Regional geophysical investigations were carried out over a large region (loa km radius) centred on the Weyburn Oil Field in southeastern Saskatchewan as part of a site characterization project to study long-term storage of greenhouse gases in the subsurface. This investigation involved over 2000 km of 2D seismic data and incorporated information from over 1000 well bores. Small-scale faults and flexures were observed in all seismic sections analysed, but no major tectonic elements were observed to disrupt the storage container. Additional work was performed to characterize the 3D distribution of petrophysical parameters within the study region for incorporation into risk and performance assessment models.
