Alternance de langues et conflit linguistique : analyse des alternances intralexicales produites par les bilingues français-kirundi

Abstract
Dans cette étude, nous mettons en relation les aspects formels des alternances kirundi-français produites par un groupe d’étudiants burundais et les caractéristiques du conflit linguistique. Nous constatons que, à l’instar de la plupart des élites africaines, le groupe observé vit un conflit linguistique qui s’incarne dans la configuration de ces alternances. Ainsi, dans les segments nominaux alternés, le français, langue socialement prestigieuse, fournit systématiquement le pivot (le radical) du lexème alterné, et le kirundi, langue dominée, n’en fournit que des éléments secondaires instables et souvent non pertinents. Orientée vers la description du fonctionnement diglossique, notre approche se démarque des études courantes qui privilégient l’étude des aspects purement linguistiques ou sociaux de l’alternance.
