Abstract
O artigo trata da seguridade social no Canadá. Pretende relacionar as reformas e projetos de reforma do Governo Federal canadense e do governo de Quebec com as grandes orientações da política social nos países centrais, no contexto de mundialização da economia e de hegemonia do neoliberalismo. A primeira parte do artigo refere-se às mudanças econômicas ou seja, à questão do esgotamento da regulação fordistaou da relação salarial como forma de regulação das relações de produção e à crise do desemprego. Em seguida aborda a crise da seguridade social, o discurso da chamada "revolução conservadora" e as propostas da reforma. Finalmente, uma reflexão sobre a renda mínima de cidadania como alternativa às reformas propostas.
