Abstract
Les réformes du système de santé français dans le courant des années 1990 ont fait émerger la notion de « démocratie sanitaire », récemment consacrée avec la loi du 4 mars 2002 « relative aux droits des malades et à la qualité du système de santé ». Ce projet se caractérise à la fois par la volonté de revaloriser la place du patient dans la relation thérapeutique et par l’introduction de représentants d’usagers dans les instances de décision. Mais cette tentative — tout juste amorcée — de démocratisation du champ de la santé paraît reposer sur des fondements ambigus voire contradictoires et rencontrer une réelle limite dans son occultation de la question de la responsabilité politique.
