Abstract
Depuis les révélations concernant les récentes affinités entre anthropologie et armée américaine (éloquemment illustrées par la création du fameux programme Human Terrain System et sa mise en application en Irak et en Afghanistan), les interventions publiques en provenance du champ disciplinaire et les débats se multiplient. Ceux-ci tendent toutefois à minimiser non seulement le rôle des autres disciplines engagées dans les efforts de guerre contemporains, mais également l’importante mobilisation des nombreuses autres instances civiles impliquées sur le terrain des conflits contemporains (multinationales, agences de sécurité privées et organisations non gouvernementales notamment). Perdre de vue que la présence de la discipline s’inscrit dans un tel déploiement plus général obstrue donc la lecture du phénomène et réduit également notre appréhension des profondes transformations ayant affecté le champ du politique. Pister le rôle que détient l’anthropologie dans de telles circonstances servira donc moins à questionner si l’usage de la discipline est justifié ou non – selon des critères déontologiques établis, à identifier ou même à fixer – qu’à l’inscrire dans une réflexion plus large afin d’ouvrir une réflexion sur le brouillage catégoriel en jeu.
