Pour Francis Affergan, traduire c’est passer d’une ontologie dans une autre. Ainsi toute traduction se “traduit”-elle par la destruction, relative, d’un texte pour en construire un (ou des) nouveau(x) qui rend(ent) plus ou moins justice au texte source. C’est de cette tension que naît la position radicale de l’impossibilité de la traduction. À cet égard, les textes homériques offrent depuis des siècles un terreau de réflexion fertile : théoriquement impossibles à rendre, ils ont pourtant en pratique été “traduits” de dizaines de façons.
